La Calisto closed yesterday. After more than a month of intense work, there were only two shows. Last night I was watching from the booth. I could hear the stage manager calling the lights and projection cues. I could hear the singers being called to the stage. I was watching the subtitles being operated. And I was thinking about what a flexible living breathing creature that live theater is. Coming from a video post production background, we edit and render and compress, usually in isolation, for a concrete finished result. On the contrary in the theater it takes an entire village of different talents and concentrations all working together simultaneously and in harmony for only a few fleeting moments that live and then are gone. It brings a different kind of excitement, focus and appreciation. Feeling grateful!
